T-Mobile today launched an anti-robocalling feature for selected Android phones. Developed in partnership with Comcast, the new anti-robocalling feature from T-Mobile is aimed at blocking spam robocalls that have become a menace in the United States.
On average, 5.2 billion (!) robocalls are placed in the United States every month, with around 168.8 million originating every day as per data from YouMail. For now, the new anti-robocalling feature from T-Mobile will be available to T-Mobile and Metro subscribers owning selected LG and Samsung smartphones.
The new anti-robocalling feature from T-Mobile uses the “Secure Telephony Identity Revisited (STIR) and Secure Handling of Asserted information using toKENs (SHAKEN)” to ensure from both networks — the one from where the call is originating and to the network it is being made — that the call is genuine.
“Robocalls and spam calls are an industry-wide problem, and we’ve got to join forces to keep consumers protected. Today, we’re the first to cross industry lines to do just that,” said John Legere, chief executive of T-Mobile.
T-Mobile is the first U.S. carrier to have launch an anti-robocalling feature that works across two networks.
For now, T-Mobile’s new anti-robocalling feature is not available on iPhones. However, the carrier is working with Apple to bring this feature to iPhones as well in the near future. It is possible that we will see Apple include support for T-Mobile’s new anti-robocalling feature in iOS 13 scheduled to be unveiled at WWDC 2019 in June.Jihosoft Photo Recovery Recover lost photos, videos & audio from PC, external hard drive and removable devices with a few clicks.
